Trails End Stable LLC is a horse farm in the heart of the Ozarks in Salem, Missouri. I am located 21 miles south of Rolla towards Salem. St. Louis is an approximate two hour drive as well as Springfield and Columbia.
I offer a unique program of training horses and riders that teaches everything about the horse to bring an in depth understanding of the whole horse. I teach about the care of the horse, the tack, and other horsemanship safety. I include lots of interesting information about the different breeds, history and even trivia. My riding program begins with theories of riding. My core believe of riding is that a person who understands the whys of what is going on can gain a much better communication with the horse. As a trainer, this is what I do when I am working with a horse and through my life of teaching people to ride, I have realized the importance of incorporating my training practices into the rider's lessons. It does not do the horse or rider any good if they do not fully understand how I work with a horse. The rider themselves need to be able to "think like a horse" to achieve the communication they so desire. This means that they must also learn about the confirmation, nutrition, soundness, and behavior of the horse. I bring all of this into my riding programs.
Here on my farm, I have over 100 acres of trails and many miles of gravel roads and many other neighboring trails. I have a 60' x 120' covered riding arena so I can continue riding in all weather. I offer hauling into the beautiful local trail riding areas such as the Ozark National Scenic Riverways to ride the thousands of acres of trails along the Current River. These trails are the best way for horses and riders to build confidence and also to enjoy a relaxing way of learning.
Theories of riding clinics are horseless clinics to help bring a better understanding of the whats, hows and whys of riding. They are great for any rider of any discipline and experience. I teach about communication through your body language, natural aids versus artificial aids, bits and how they work in the mouth, different tack and care, breeds, history, confirmation, colors, markings, horse psychology...I include demonstrations and lots of hands on methods of learning.
I offer a horse intensive program. This is one month long and includes everything in my Theories of riding clinics but also allows you to apply these theories to actual ground work and riding. Each day builds onto the next with lots of experience in the ring and, when ready, out of the ring on the farm trails. I even include books and other gifts that customize to the individual's level and interest. I send emails with interesting links and videos that the rider may benefit from along with pictures and videos of themselves from their lessons. For the riders who are safely ready for away trails, I offer day trips into the beautiful Ozark horse trails. These are individual trips that may be individually added to the program when I feel the rider is ready.
I can customize a shorter program for those who cannot fit an entire month into their regular schedule. Feel free to contact me to create a week long horse intensive program for you.
